A slow three months for live music, but given the intense first six months of the year, I'm now over my annual target of 26 shows (total 29, to be exact).
I made an exception for my "I hate Outside Lands" rule just to see St. Vincent, and I'm glad I did. While not quite up to the standard of her set at Coachella, she continues to amaze every time I see her. Other highlights included the sax/violin duo of Colin Stetson and Sarah Neufeld (see here for a sample) and a new discovery, Empress Of. Her debut album, Me, may well make it into my top 5 for the year and is highly recommended for anyone who liked the Sylvan Esso album last year (sample here).
