| David Byrne at the Bill Graham Civic Center |
Just getting to publishing this a little late, but I've now blown through my annual target of 26 shows, so that's always good news. The highlight this quarter was definitely David Byrne, whose show was a great demonstration of keeping the older material fresh, and the newer material excellent, and the stage show creative. Fascinating to watch Stop Making Sense in the wake of this show, to see how much he's changed, and yet how much he's still the same. Arcade Fire also put in a great set at the Greek, performing the entirety of their amazing album, Funeral, now 14 years old, before launching into a second set of their newer material. And a special mention for a new singer-songwriter, ings, who I'd not heard before, opening for Mirah.
- The Decemberists
- Hop Along
- Zoe Keating
- David Byrne
- John Zorn (with Laurie Anderson and Terry Riley)
- Angel Olsen
- Mirah (ings opening)
- Margaret Glaspy (Jenny O opening)
- Jon Hopkins
- Arcade Fire (Grizzly Bear opening)
