Overall, however, I'd say I'm having slightly less fun going to shows these days than I once did. Perhaps it's a sign to dial back the number? Perhaps it's a sign that I'm less willing to tolerate the annoyances that come with rock shows (people talking loudly next to you, standing for hours, unclear start times for the headliner, the unpredictable commutes to Oakland, etc.). Something to monitor, I guess.
This quarter, the highlights were definitely Gogo Penguin (that drummer!), Marika Hackman (all the best singer-songwriters right now seem to be lesbians from Australia), Meute (brass band that does covers of electronic music hits, yes!), and FKA Twigs (those costume changes!).
