Fifty three shows. More than one concert per week. Wow. That makes 2022 a record breaker for my live music attendance, at least in the last 18 years that I've been keeping count. This is the result of my going on a ticket buying spree as the pandemic waned, as well as to musicians hitting the road this year to make up for the pandemic years at home.
Stand outs for this season were Odesza, who put on the biggest concert spectacle I've ever seen (flamethrowers, drum line, confetti cannon, lasers, pyrotechnics, oh my!), Trash Date (an unscheduled performance by Lissie's backing musicians opening for her after the scheduled opener got sick), and the quiet beauty of Skullcrusher. And, of course, the amazing live animated performance by multi-talented turntablist Kid Koala and a troupe of puppeteers bringing a mosquito's struggles to play jazz clarinet to life.
