At the mid-year mark, I've managed 14 shows (counting each festival day as one, per usual practice). Coachella was the highlight, and The Last Dinner Party stands out as the best thing I saw that weekend. Baroque, guitar-driven rock is not dead; it's just been resurrected by a bunch of young women reanimating the spirit of bombastic English 70s rock!
Another highlight was seeing Sarah McLachlan performing her best album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, at the Greek. She brought me to tears when I saw this tour 30 years ago when the album was new, and her voice is still undimmed.
