Live Music Q2 2026

In Q1, I managed 12 shows. As it happens, I hit the same number in Q2 (counting each festival day as one, as is my usual). I think next quarter slows down some, but this still is shaping up to be another big year for live music.

Of course, Coachella loomed large. I think this was my 16th time, and I fear that my favorites show my age this time: David Byrne, The XX, Jack White, and Fatboy Slim. But I also discovered CMAT and Creepy Nuts, so there's that.

The Last Dinner Party were nice enough to have their local show on my birthday. They are solidly among my favorite live acts, though fka twigs delivered an even more memorable live experience. She reminds me of Kate Bush in that she's relentlessly pursuing her own musical and dance vision, current trends be damned. And, as they do every year, The Tallis Scholars delivered the most vocal beauty of anything I've seen all year.

And special mention for the Lucy Dacus show, which was my first time at the newly renovated Castro Theater. Great addition to SF's live music venues (and so close to my house!).
