Another big crowd, and I'm afraid I ran a bit short of grenache for the late-comers. Sorry! Most of our favorites are still available at K&L Wines, if you want them.
- 2005 Côtes du Rhône Domaine de Marcoux $23
- 2005 Eaglepoint Ranch Mendocino Grenache $15: a consensus favorite, very approachable, easy drinking
- 1997 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape ~$30: the French funk on this split the crowd, some loved it, some hated it
- 2005 Bodegas Borsao Tres Picos (Garnacha), Campo de Borja $13: great value, friendly, but with enough acid and structure for food, bright fruit
- 2003 Cotes du Rhone La Pialade $20: yes, this is the one I described as "witholding"
- 2003 Château Maris Minervois “Old Vine Grenache” $24
- 2004 Zayante Vineyards Clos Du Z Rhone Blend $15: another favorite and excellent value, bright red fruit
- 2004 Unti Dry Creek Valley Grenache $24: nice contrast from #7, darker fruit, but still light on its feet
- 2005 Bonny Doon Ca' del Solo Vineyard Grenache $22: the darkest of the grenache-based wines, almost like a light Zin
- 2005 El Burro Kickass Garnacha $10
- 2004 Pezzi King Old Vines Zinfandel $18: my favorite from ZAP this year, dark, dark fruit, without tasting baked or too hot
- 2004 Four Vines "Biker" Paso Robles Zinfandel $17: tasty, good value
- 2003 Rosenblum Annette's Reserve Redwood Valley Zinfandel $22
- 2004 Rosenblum Richard Sauret Vineyards Paso Robles Zinfandel $18
And, once I ran out of grenache, the shift to Zin!
